About Hatakeyama

What “HATAKEYAMA” creates

At Hatakeyama, we take pride in providing gloves and mitts that give you a sense of all that Hatakeyama has to offer, no matter where in the world you pick up a Hatakeyama product.
This is because we deliver products made by the same process as a ”craftsman” to all people, regardless of whether they are for professionals or amateurs, based on our stance of ”ALL THE BASEBALL LOVERS”

We have gained the trust and achievement of many professional advisory staff members, bullpen catchers, and others, and all the gloves and mitts in our catalog (hardball) and those ordered are made by the same company and by the same craftsmen. This is a very rare case for a manufacturer, and it is not an exaggeration to say that it is the only one.

Many people want the same gloves and mitts used by the pros, but in terms of the manufacturing process, the quality of Hatakeyama's products means that we always provide the same gloves and mitts to everyone as the pros do.
In addition, we manufacture each and every one of our products with ”confidence and determination as a craftsman” so that you will feel that a Hatakeyama product you pick up somewhere in the world is all Hatakeyama has to offer.

The ”hardness” Advantages.

The phrase ”Hatakeyama's leather is hard” is often heard, but this is to ensure that the leather can be used in the best condition for the longest possible time. Hard leather takes time to break in. However, once you get used to it, you can use it for a long period of time in the best condition. Have you ever experienced that your leather was at its best before the repair? Hatakeyama wants you to use the leather in that condition for a long time, so we stick to hard and firm leather.

HATAKEYAMA's hardball gloves and mitts are made of pure Japanese black cowhide leather. As you may have noticed if you have actually used or seen them, HATAKEYAMA's gloves and mitts have ”OMOYOU”, which is a unique characteristic of natural materials. This is a proof that each piece of leather we use has a different natural expression. We are sure that some people may be concerned about the fact that the leather is not uniform as a single product, but HATAKEYAMA judges the leather to be the most suitable with the eyes of a solid craftsman, and all our products are sent out with confidence. We hope that you will love our ”mask style” as your individuality. (The notation is our original name.)

To ”engrave the heart.”

HATAKEYAMA's hardball series are engraved with kanji characters that express the thoughts of the makers.

G stands for ”遊(Yu)” (playfulness), which implies flexibility.
PBW is ”和心(Wagokoro)” (peace of mind), which expresses equanimity.
V is ”悳(Toku)” for compassion
K is ”悠(Yu) ”for expansion
J is ”志(Kokorozashi)” a powerful feeling that motivates one toward a goal.

The kanji is ”spirit” a powerful feeling that motivates you toward your goals, and ”spirit” is used as part of the kanji and its connotations.
The ”spirit” that loves baseball, the ”spirit” that thinks of others through baseball, and the ”spirit” that takes good care of tools. Because we put our heart and soul into our gloves and mitts, we want the players who use them to use them with their hearts as well.

In addition, all Order Series gloves are engraved with “心(Kokoro)”, which means ”spirit” in Japanese. This is engraved on every glove and mitt ordered, and is proof that HATAKEYAMA responds to each player's request with ”spirit” one by one, regardless of whether the order is from a professional or amateur, soft or hardball player.

increase strength

The seams at the back of the glove are coated with a special resin to increase strength.
The construction also prevents the glove from losing its shape and resists sharp hits.

Do not be lax.

The fastback clasp is HATAKEYAMA's unique buckle, which does not loosen like conventional clasps, so it fits snugly on the back of the hand.

To be adhered to closely.

The pocket section is made of a proprietary grease that does not change with temperature differences between the summer and winter seasons, and is used to keep the front and back leathers in close contact. This prolongs the life of the leather and creates a pocket with a good fit.

Sweat-resistant.

It is made of (man-made leather: Toray's registered trademark), which is superior to conventional deerskin.
It is highly sweat absorbent and quick-drying, so it does not slip or become sticky due to perspiration. It is also highly durable.

To reduce stress on the index finger.

EX

When catching the ball, the index finger is inevitably stressed by the leather part of the heel.
Therefore, HATAKEYAMA can reduce the stress by inserting a piece of leather with an original pattern.

Resistance to tearing

slitless

Conventional catcher's and first mitts had slits in their pockets, and these slits were often torn.
HATAKEYAMA's catcher's and first mitts have eliminated the slit and are slitless, which is durable and makes a good sound when catching the ball.
(Compatible with M1, M2, M19, F03, and HT models)

inside stitch

Perforations on the Oyayubi(thumb) and Koyubi(pinky) pad portion of the catcher's mitt have been eliminated, and tear prevention has been achieved with hamidashi.

The flat core of the pocket section.

Catcher's mitt, core

HATAKEYAMA's catcher's mitts use a unique felt core (flat core in the pocket) that we devised.

In the conventional structure, the pinky side of the care entrance was subjected to strain and sometimes tore.
To solve this problem, HATAKEYAMA adopted a unique pattern.
By extending the leather part and inserting a slit, the durability is improved. The size of the grooming area can also be adjusted by loosening the strap.

Even a single method of heel weaving can greatly change the nature of the grab. Normal knitting tends to spread the pinky outward.
Inverse knitting tends to spread the thumb outward. In the ”Both Heel”,invented by HATAKEYAMA, the knitting is crossed in the center of the heel so that both the thumb and pinky finger spread outward more easily.
This widens the frontage of the glove and makes it easier to catch the ball. It can be used for a variety of catching motions, such as inverted singles.
